The Lion Has Landed in Madrid

Delta FC is officially in Madrid. We are proud to announce the launch of our Madrid team, which will compete in the 2025/26 season in the Real Federación de Fútbol de Madrid (RFFM) Segunda Aficionados, Grupo 13. This is a defining moment for the club and for English-speaking football in Spain.
Delta FC is not just another amateur football team. It is the leading English-speaking federated football club in Spain — a club built by and for the international community. Our players represent over 12 nationalities, and English is the primary language on the pitch, in the dressing room, and across all club operations. For expats, international students, and young professionals living in Madrid who want to play competitive, organised football without a language barrier, Delta FC is the answer.
The story of how we got here matters. Delta FC was founded in 2024 after IE University announced that its federated football programme would no longer continue. Rather than let the project disappear, a student and his father decided to start from scratch. They registered a new club, built a staff, designed an identity, and entered the federated football system in Segovia through the Federación de Castilla y León de Fútbol (FCyLF). Nearly 90 players showed up to tryouts. Only 22 made the squad. In its debut 2024/25 season, Delta FC Segovia earned promotion to the 1st Federated Division — proof that this was more than an idea.
Now, the Lion has landed in Madrid.
Madrid is one of Europe's largest cities for international residents. Tens of thousands of English-speaking expats, Erasmus students, remote workers, and young professionals call it home. Many of them played football growing up and want to continue competing at a serious level. But finding a well-organised, English-speaking football club in Madrid that plays in a real federated league has always been difficult. Most options are informal pickup games, social leagues without structure, or Spanish-speaking clubs where integration is harder for non-native speakers. Delta FC fills that gap.
The Madrid team will compete in the RFFM Segunda Aficionados, one of the official amateur football divisions under the Real Federación de Fútbol de Madrid. This is real federated football — registered players, licensed referees, official standings, and competitive matches every Sunday. It is the same structure that feeds into Spain's national football pyramid, from amateur divisions all the way up to La Liga.
Training takes place near Plaza Castilla at Campo Rupe Sahagún, one of Madrid's accessible and well-maintained football facilities. Home matches will be played at El Pardo, at Campo de Fútbol Mingorrubio. Players are expected to commit to two to three training sessions per week and be available for Sunday matches. The standard is high, but so is the reward — being part of something genuinely unique in Spanish football.
The squad will be assembled through a competitive tryout process open to all eligible players. We evaluate technical ability, tactical awareness, physical fitness, and mentality. At Delta FC, attitude matters as much as skill. We want players who are hungry to compete, committed to the team, and proud to represent the crest.
What makes Delta FC different from other football clubs in Madrid is not just the language — it is the culture. Our three core values guide everything we do. Compete to win: we play every match with the ambition to get results and earn promotion. Enjoy the game: football should be demanding but also fun, and the environment around the club reflects that. Everyone belongs: Delta FC is shaped by its community, and every player, staff member, and supporter is part of the story.
With two teams now competing — Madrid in the RFFM and Segovia in the FCyLF — Delta FC operates as a multi-city football club united by one identity. The expansion to Madrid is not just about adding another team. It is about giving the international community in Spain a football club they can truly call their own.
